Bermondsey
Driving though today very impressed

Not many areas left in London that feels white English and Bermondsey did like a step back to the good old days.

Cromwell, You mentioned earlier that the land Millwall stands on must be the 3rd most expensive in London.

Suppose after Chelsea and Fulham the land that Millwall is on must be worth most in the country, right on the edge of the city

The beer mile is well worth a visit on a sunny Saturday. Maltby st market is good for a browse and bite to eat, too.

I spent a fair bit of time on the Vauban Estate throughout the 90's.

Worked on Bermondsey Street for a bit when it was supposedly getting yo be a trendy area. Trendy = former hovel, now improved to be just a bit of a shithole...

I would concur that the reason why it's such a white area is because the majority of the population haven't got the financial power to get out.

Jade Goody got out to Essex as soon as she had enough money to do so. Surprising really 'cos I thought Bermondsey ex-pats thought of Kent as the rural idyll.

Woolpack still a cracking pub, great beer garden. So many good place to eat round there now, all a bit poncy, but I don't mind a bit of that to be honest.

MANZIES pie mash is the best about, for me.

Re: Bermondsey
Used to work in Bermondsey St in the late 80s. Remember the Woolpack Pub was our regular watering hole. Good Pie and Mash shop round by the Market as well. A lot of us were Hammers but we had a couple of Millwall one of whom was my boss. To be honest we all got well and drank together.
